Nucleareurope welcomes new President Xavier Ursat
Brussels, 13 January 2025: nucleareurope is pleased to announce that Xavier Ursat has been appointed by the association’s General Assembly as nucleareurope’s President for a two-year period starting on 1 January 2025.
“2025 will be a crucial year for the EU, with the new European Commission and Parliament expected to tackle Europe’s declining industrial competitiveness and energy challenges. As an association, nucleareurope will continue to advocate for technology neutrality across the entire legislative framework and in future discussions. In terms of achieving the net zero target by 2050, the European nuclear industry will play a crucial role by providing low-carbon, dispatchable, and affordable baseload energy for citizens and industries. Nuclear energy contributes to the stability of the European power system and to massively decarbonising our economy. I am excited to contribute to this journey as President of nucleareurope” states Mr Ursat.
Since April 2024, Xavier Ursat has held the position of Senior Executive Vice President Strategy, Technologies, Innovation and Development at EDF Group. He is also Chairman of the Strategic Committee for the French Nuclear Sector (CSFN) and the French Nuclear Energy Industry Organization (GIFEN) since 2020.
