Nucleareurope participates in SMR networking event

On 23 November 2023, nucleareurope DG Office, Legal & Intl Relations Director Berta Picamal gave some concluding remarks during the networking event on Small Modular Reactors (SMR) in Belgium organised by the Belgian Nuclear Forum.

A variety of topics were covered during this event including:

• The potential which SMRs have to offer in terms of achieving a net-zero energy system in Belgium 
• The benefits of growth in new nuclear
• The use of SMRs in industrial applications
• How Belgium can contribute to the development of Generation IV SMRs.

At the end of the event Berta spoke about SMR developments at EU level, focusing in particular on the recently announced EU SMR Industrial Alliance.
