Nucleareurope intervenes during Roadmaps to New Nuclear Panel

On 29 September 2023, Yves Desbazeille, Director General of nucleareurope, participated in a panel dedicated to ‘Aligning Stakeholders to Deliver New Nuclear’ as part of the Roadmaps to New Nuclear conference jointly organised by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the Ministry of Energy Transition of France.

During his intervention Yves noted the importance of close collaboration between industry and national governments on the one hand, and EU policymakers on the other.  One of the most important messages being conveyed at EU level is the need for technology neutral policies, which focus on goals, rather than automatically including – or excluding – particular technologies.

One key example of this is in the area of sustainable finance and the various EU funds.  By ensuring that these are open to all low-carbon solutions, including nuclear, these have the potential of triggering additional private investment, which is vital for technologies such as nuclear.
