European Young Generation signs Nuclear for Climate declaration
Just a few months ahead of the COP21 talks, the European Nuclear Young Generation Forum (ENYGF) took place in Paris from 22 to 26 June 2015. This year’s Forum was dedicated to climate and environmental issues. During the event, high-level speakers delivered speeches and discussed the role of nuclear in the fight against climate change; its impact on the environment, and how it can adapt to new markets etc.
The European forum was the opportunity for the representatives from the 19 European Young Generation Networks to sign, in front of 360 participants coming from 27 different countries, the position paper prepared in the framework of the Nuclear for Climate initiative. The two key messages of this declaration are the following: nuclear is part of the solution in the fight against climate change, and COP21 is a unique opportunity to achieve a world-wide low-carbon society in which nuclear power will have a key role to play.
