nucleareurope presents nuclear industry at S&D event on energy security

On 19 March 2024, nucleareurope Director General Yves Desbazeille was invited to speak at an event entitled ‘Energy security – the foundation for thriving European industry: the role of Bulgaria. organised by MEP Tsvetelina Penkova (S&D, Bulgaria) organised in the European Parliament.  During the event Yves provided an update on the current state of play of EU policies and initiatives of relevance to nuclear.  

In the case of the Net-Zero Industry Act, he indicated that nuclear as a whole has finally been included alongside renewables, which is a very positive development when it comes to EU policy.

He also drew attention to the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs which was launched in February 2024 by the European Commission.
