New leadership at nucleareurope

Mar 5, 2025 | Press Release

Brussels, 5 March 2025: nucleareurope is pleased to announce that as of today, Emmanuel Brutin will join the association as Director General. He takes over from Yves Desbazeille, who has been at the helm of the association since 2017.

I am thrilled to be entrusted with the leadership of nucleareurope at such a pivotal moment for the sector. Nuclear already plays a decisive role in decarbonising Europe’s energy mix and ensuring our energy sovereignty. As the EU tackles the key challenges of achieving net-zero emissions and maintaining a strong industrial base, it is a crucial technology in providing customers with a constant supply of decarbonised energy and support the bloc’s electrification efforts”  states Emmanuel Brutin.

Emmanuel Brutin has worked in European affairs for 20 years, focusing on energy and climate issues. Since 2019, he has been in charge of advocacy at CEMBUREAU, the European cement industry association. Previously, he headed up the Brussels office of National Grid, the UK energy transmission company.

”I would like to thank Yves Desbazeille for his years at the head of nucleareurope and for the excellent handover”, adds Emmanuel. “I am very much looking forward to working with the nucleareurope team, its members, and EU officials to advance nuclear’s role in addressing Europe’s challenges.“

This change in management follows on from the appointment of Xavier Ursat (EDF) as President and Jaana Isotalo (TVO) as Vice President of nucleareurope in January 2025.
